Overview 

• Milky way, a constellation and zodiac-themed café opened in 1983 and has been very popular since then, especially for women and couples.
• Do you like shojo manga? Especially the ones published in the 80’s or the 90’s? Say no more! Milky way is not your typical kissaten but it’s still deliciously retro and has a very nice 80’s vibes. You will feel like you’re living a real scene of “Kimagure orange road” or “Marmalade boy”!
• The place was slightly renovated over the years but they managed to keep the very special atmosphere so you will still feel very nostalgic when getting in. I really admire the fact that they did their best about that and actually succeed in renewing the furniture for exemple without ruining the whole place.
• Stars-details are spreading all over the café, from the cups and the plates to the sugar cubes, even including the furniture and the ceiling.
• Surronded by a deep dark blue, white and sparkling stars you can enjoy a very nice 80’s time slip.
• Milky way is really a place where you can appreciate the roots of the “kawaii culture” in Japan. It’s a must-visit place if you’re into japanese cute pop culture!

Tips 

• Try to avoid weekend. Saturday and sunday are the busiest days! According to me, the best moment to go is on weekdays after 8 or 9pm. At night the place is really magical.
• Each parfait (850-900 yen) is inspired by a zodiac sign so you can choose yours, which is very funny actually! By the way, I didn’t put pictures of these parfaits on purpose… I really want you to be surprised and enjoy the experience to the fullest the first time you will get one!
• They also have seasonal menu with special parfaits. Halloween’s menu is the best one according to me!
• Even the ice coffee is very cute, coming with white star-shaped jelly in! It’s perfect if you’re not feeling like eating a whole parfait or drinking a float (coming in a super cute star-shaped glass!) but still want to have something nice with stars, it’s perfect.
• If it’s possible, sit close to the window area, it’s really nice to see the bustling streets while enjoying your parfait.
• Milky way also have cakes (400-420 yen) and a food menu with sandwiches, doria and gratin(840-950 yen). Honestly, these are not bad but the place is oriented to parfait so I highly suggest to have ice cream or a drink instead!
• Did you fall in love with their plates or their cups? Don’t worry you can get it! You can’t really directly buy it but you can make a point card. You’ll get 1 point every 500 Yen and you can use these points to buy the café goods!
